Why the honesty is the product
Baskets are easy to photograph and hard to buy. A styled photograph tells you nothing about whether the thing you own will fit inside, what it holds before it sags, or whether it will shed fibre onto a dark floor for a month. Almost nobody publishes those figures, because two of the three are unflattering.
So that is what this shop is: the same six measurements on every one of the 44 pieces, including the awkward ones. Tested load with the condition it was measured under. Inner dimensions, not just outer. A shedding grade. What happens in a damp room. What the cleaning actually is, which for most of these is “not washable”. Where it was designed and, separately, where it was made.
If that reads as a strange thing to lead with, consider the alternative: you find out after it arrives, and one of us spends an afternoon processing a return that neither of us wanted.
What we deliberately do not sell
- Anything for food. Nothing here is a food container. Pieces shaped like tableware carry a notice saying so on their own page.
- Other people’s brands. We do not resell third-party ceramics or glass. Everything in this shop is our own line, so the specifications on the page are ours to stand behind.
- Vintage or second-hand goods. Provenance and authenticity are claims we could not verify piece by piece, so we do not make them.
- Anything without a tested load figure. The site is built so that a piece missing either the figure or its test condition cannot be displayed at all.
- Subscriptions. There is no membership, no monthly box, no stored credit and no loyalty scheme. You buy a basket; that is the whole transaction.
Where the pieces are made
Fibre is woven where it grows, by workshops that have done it for generations. Seagrass in Vietnam. Rattan and water hyacinth in Indonesia. Jute in Bangladesh. Cotton rope in India. Raffia in Madagascar.
The design work happens in Denmark, and every product page lists “designed in” and “made in” as two separate lines. We do not describe our goods as Danish-made, Danish handmade or Scandinavian craft, because they are none of those things — they are Danish-designed and woven elsewhere by people who are better at it than we are.
We also make no sustainability or environmental claims anywhere on this site. Plant fibre invites them, and we hold no certification that would let us make them honestly. The full list of things we refuse to claim is on the natural materials page.
How the shop is run
- Orders are packed within one working day of payment. Delivery is 2–5 working days in Denmark, 4–9 working days in the rest of the EU. See delivery.
- Customer service is monday to friday, 09:00–16:00 cet. we answer within two working days. It is the people who pack the boxes, not a call centre.
- 14 days to change your mind, with a standard form — right of withdrawal. On top of that, a 2-year right of complaint under Danish law — how that works.
- No reviews on the site. The shop is new and we have no customer reviews to show. Rather than write something ourselves, product pages carry our own bench notes from load testing, clearly labelled as ours. If we add customer reviews later they will be verified purchases and marked as such.
- No mailing list. Ordering does not sign you up to anything.
